What made YOU join the team? I heard about AFC online and through a couple of friends. Week on week I saw images of people getting together and having fun working out. I had let my fitness slide and just about managed to get in a gym visit around two small children. One of the coaches at AFC asked me to come along to a session and see what I thought. I was seriously put through my paces and struggled to keep up but there was no one judging me and I could work at my own pace. After the session I spoke to Chris and told him I wanted to help out with club. I came along to the sessions for a few more weeks and eventually was made part of the team. My first bonus track was ‘Uptown Funk’ one we still regularly use at club now.
What is your favourite part of the job? My most favourite part of the ‘job’ is watching the incredible progress our members make. Some join with a real goal in mind and often it is achieved quickly but its also those that have been coming for a long time that still now amaze me with their accomplishments. I also LOVE creating the themed evenings we do, new bonus tracks and dressing up and the EVENTS we take part in as a team.
What is your favourite training style? I love working in groups and partners to train. At club members get to know each other and team games and competitions really bring out the competitive ones! There is often laughter and combined with a great workout it cant be beaten. If I am training myself I prefer 1-2-1 training with our PT Reece Edmonds as it really allows me to focus, work hard and get results.
What is your favourite clean meal? In the winter months you cant beat a good chilli , full of veg, teamed with some rice. In the summer months I love to eat salads, with chicken and sometimes prawns too.
What is your favourite cheat meal? You just cant beat fish and chips on the beach!!
Which member stands out to you at club? It is IMPOSSIBLE to mention just one member!! I have been a Coach to so many inspirational ladies and gents, each week giving me more to work with, showing me how ready they are to meet the challenge. Our members allow us to do this incredible ‘job’ and I just couldn’t name one. From my own clients amazing transformations from Valerie Hunn, to running accomplishments from Pauline Tallett and Wendy Barker, to massive personal goals from Debs Johnson and Filiz Salih. Naomi and Kirsty, always at the front, interacting and shouting back ‘whooop’. Amanda and Rebecca James that are at club every week working hard and changing so , so much. You and everyone else knows how awesome I think you are and I couldn’t respect you anymore.
Which is your favourite music track? I am a massive music fan, I love something from Beyoncé, Sia or Bruno Mars to dance too. Our club always offers the latest tracks with new releases being downloaded weekly. Totally motivates me to work harder!
What would you like for the future of AFC? It is my dream and has been since I started to work for AFC full time. My latest role as Events Director means that as well as improve our events during the club challenges I get to take control of some extra events aside from club. Chris and myself are currently working on our latest idea and its BIG , its NEON and its going to offer Ashford something its never seen before!!Its all in my head and its all going to be very real one day just you wait and see!! We have an incredible team of coaches and a real buzz for what is to come.
Any special Weekend Activities? Weekends are for my children, being a mum and keeping them happy and busy! When I’m not with the kids, I focus my attention on work, planning with Chris the week ahead for club and the many extra events and special evenings we offer. Working on the Home Workout Area – promoting us worldwide. I love walking in the woods, being with friends – enjoying good food and I might even chill out for an hour watching the box!
