Christmas is approaching fast, and lots of people tend to over indulge in the buffets, lunches, meals out… and it is only Christmas once a year right? But is it really worth ruining all your hard work, wouldn’t it be better finding a healthy balance between enjoying the buckets of sweets, mountains of pigs in blankets and also a fresh walk to keep the body moving? Christmas and family times can be enjoyable even with being a little aware of what your eating and how much you are moving too.
A lot of people set aside their fitness routines during the holidays since they believe that they do not have enough time to perform their workouts. And then because they feel guilty after the holiday season, most of the gyms are packed with fresh members in January. You all know how easy it is to log onto our Home Workout Area, grab the dog and go for a walk, tackle the pavements with a broom. Here are a few ideas to help you make better choices this Christmas time:
- Avoid skipping meals!! Eat a good breakfast every day and you will feel less tempted to snack unnecessarily. Whether you enjoy a full English breakfast or a healthy scrambled eggs and salmon Christmas day , keep breakfast up! By skipping meals you will find yourself dealing with hunger, and reaching for a quick snack, a choccie, chunk of cheese or savoury nibbles. Keep reaching for those snacks and your going to be skipping meals but consuming tons of unnecessary calories. Eat your regular meals and combat the cravings to snack.
- Keep yourself active – If you feel your time is limited then change your routine! A 5 min walk around the road with the dog, a boogie along to your favourite Christmas track or grab your work out gear and MAKE TIME!! Why not decide now when you can work out, mark it in your diary and do it! - Regulate your drinking… I know , everyone deserves a little fizz at Christmas – but all the extra bubbles is adding lots of calories to your day. Why not add in a glass of water or two in between the festivities and safe that head from feeling so muggy to!
- Plan your NEW YEAR! Whilst your enjoying the relaxation and well deserved rest why not pic up a pen and paper and make some goals for 2018? It doesn’t have to be based on weight or nutrition, how about a strength goal? A distance to run? A special event to save for. Make your goals and work out how you will achieve them.
